Leap's Sandcastle Contest October 3, 2009

Linda Fairchild and Leap Board member Patti Mitchell join children's authors Lemony Snicket and Julie Downing on Saturday, October 3, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to jury Leap`s 26th Annual Sandcastle Contest at Ocean Beach, near the Cliff House.

For thirty years, Leap has preserved endangered public schools' arts curricula by bringing visual and performing artists and architects into classrooms for extended residencies that foster children’s creative energy.

This year you can also participate in a sandcastle-building area where bystanders can team up with volunteers and one of Leap’s teaching architects to try their hand at designing their own sand structure. Participants in this activity are encouraged to donate $5 - $10 to ensure the contest’s continued success. Participants who donate $10 or more will receive a Leap Sandcastle t-shirt.

Or just come come and grace this wonderful free event with your presence!
